Q: If aftermarket performance products really work, why didn't my vehicle's manufacturer install these parts?
A: From the factory, your vehicle is tuned for general use and performance. Manufacturers spend a lot of time studying average driving style, location, elevation and many other factors to develop parts for your vehicle that easily adapt to these variables. In addition, manufacturers must also comply with government noise and emissions restrictions that are much stricter than those of aftermarket products. Therefore, your vehicle is often "tuned down" to meet these regulations. Another factor is cost. A lot of time, research and development go into the production of performance products - if your vehicle's manufacturer spent as much time developing each part as specialty aftermarket companies do; the initial cost of your vehicle would probably be significantly higher.
