Q: My truck is a 1997 Chevy 1500 2WD. The truck has over 100,000 miles on it and the rear brake drums need to be replaced. I was thinking of upgrading to rear disc brakes. Does any one make a good kit that I can install at home? My truck also has ABS brakes, is this a problem?

A: You’re in luck. For anyone looking to replace his or her drum brakes, now is the perfect time to upgrade. BAER brakes makes a very nice kit that is completely bolt on and includes everything that you will need (including your parking brake hook up) to convert your tired-old drum brakes to some high-performance discs. Best of all, this project should take you no more than an afternoon with common hand tools. The kit will work fine with your ABS braking system and will not cause any problems.
