Q: I see so many intakes on the market from various stores. They all seem so similar. Can you shine some light on the differences?
A: Many of the intakes you see on the market today are made with one or two things in mind: increased airflow or keeping dust and dirt out of the engine. The problem with having an intake that is letting too much air in, is that it's not filtering properly and can harm the engine by allowing too much dirt and grime into the motor. Intakes that are too restrictive can force the vehicle to work harder than it needs to and can decrease your gas mileage. Intake manufacturer's such as K&N, Volant, S&B and AEM have designed intakes that optimize airflow to the engine and still protect the motor as well. These intakes are strictly tested and have been proven to increase horsepower, torque, and gas milage, which sets them apart from other intakes you may see on the market.
